Matière molle pour l’agronomie et l’environnement

This recent theme of the Soft Matter group arose from the intention to develop an interdisciplinary research based on strong competencies existing in Montpellier in agronomical and environmental sciences. Agronomical and environmental sciences are regularly facing physical phenomena relevant to soft matter. To reach a deeper understanding on these various physical phenomena, our scientific approach relies on identifying key-parameters in natural complex systems and designing relevant experimental models in the laboratory. The main objective is to derive general physical and physico-chemical mechanisms that are often hidden in the intrinsic complexity of agronomical, biological and environmental systems.

The various soft matter related topics addressed in this theme involve interfacial phenomena, polymer and colloid science and rheology and mechanical properties of complex systems. It is funded by companies (Solvay, La Compagnie Fruitière, …) as well as by public actors (ANR, Labex, …).
